There are currently many organisations doing wonderful work in Kibera. Many of these organisations are run by just a small group of people who continually struggle to raise the money needed to continue their work. They also face difficulties getting necessary resources and exposure to international volunteers and organisations.

The aim of the Kibera Collaboration Project is to encourage collaboration between these many existing groups and organisations. Networking and collaboration would increase the effectiveness of their work through knowledge sharing and capacity building as well as allow the pooling of ideas, skills and resources to create community infrastructure such as libraries and computer centres.

The project is just beginning, and will start by talking to the various diverse groups about their needs, goals and expectations. The project will then:

• put similar organisations in touch with each other
• work to encourage pooling of knowledge and resources
• explore possibilities of collaborative infrastructure projects such as community libraries and computer labs
