Maono Group
The Maono Group was formed through the initiative of several men and women who saw the need of joining forces together so that they could find solutions to the various problems affecting the community around them, they were moved by the deteriorating poverty and all the other associated evils including drug abuse, teenage parenthood, illiteracy and insecurity, or particular concern, was the HIV/AIDS epidemic which is causing havoc in the region where the group operates, the members have therefore resolved to fight HIV/AIDS and also assist those infected and affected in collaboration with the stakeholders. The epidemic is causing havoc in Kibera taking away lives in most cases at the pur age of 13-50 years. The mode of infection for the majority of cases has been through unprotected sex. Women being infected more than men. A lot of effort has been made in creating public awareness rated at 80% at the national level, but this has not been matched with behavioural change.
